The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. Psalms 16:5-6.
Every father leaves a heritage for his children and grandchildren. The heritage is varied and different in many instances. It could be a good name as a legacy of service remembered by those that know him. Houses, landed properties are common inheritance in some settings. Bank accounts, bonds stocks and shares are also inherited. Some have the privilege of inheriting cars, pets and even valuable jewelry or works of art. In some situation, debts, liabilities or nothing is inherited.
An authorized will of the father is usually the last word on issues of inheritance. God has a heritage for all his sons, his will is intact; the lines fall in pleasant places.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”John 1:12-13.
For anyone to be partaker of his will, his sonship must be without doubt. The heritage is for sons, daughters and servants; not for strangers. If the will of a man is respected and enforced, how much more the will of God. The will of a father rewards the sons, daughters and servants, so also the will of God. Being born again or the new creature is not enrollment into church but to God’s heritage. The portion of your inheritance, your cup and lot awaits you in God.
The heritage is personal, specific, packaged specially of you. Welcome to the place where the lines are falling in pleasant places. Welcome to the kingdom of God; that is the heritage of his sons.
“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”Colossians 1:12-14.
Prayer: Father I am grateful for your heritage of the sons of God. You have not called us in vain, we have been called to gain; the lines have fallen to me in pleasant places in life through divine heritage. Thank you father, in Jesus name.
