But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Psalms 1:2-4.
While growing up in the city of Aba, I always heard the talk of waterside. It was the place adjoining Aba river which is densely populated at the time. A swim is free, fishing and sundry business activities are unending. The ever busy fishing village brought much flourishing economic activities. Food was cheapest at this location and restaurant businesses thrived also.
Those that lived by the waterside never lack fish! A local saying. The abundance in this location is positional and locale specific. They were too close to the source and could not lack the sauce. The word of God is the water of life that nourishes abundant living. Communities thrive around rivers, streams and steady source of water. This is the same principle with in the word of God, those that delight and meditate in it are vitalized; spirit, soul and body.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”Joshua 1:8.
Financial struggle is not the product of how much is earned but how it’s managed. It’s amazing that those that earn so much are sometimes the biggest borrowers.
The lifestyle of waste and affluence have a high maintenance cost. Living for a show or to please your peers is the recipe to lack. Borrowing to buy perishable things is key to a debt full life. God”s word is the recipe for a watered lifestyle &vitalized not wasteful living. His commandments are instructions for frugal not frivolous living.
The book of the law is the word of God, the manual of life that is failure proof. The quality of Christian life is the byproduct of the word-full living. We’re like a fish in water that dries and dies out of water. The word is our life! Become a watered garden, live abundant life by the living water.
“And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” Isaiah 58:11.
Prayer: My father, I am destined for a failure proof life by the word of God. In drought, My soul shall be satisfied, I am a watered garden by the Guide of your word. Grace to grow into a tree by the riverside of abundance in the name of Jesus.
