GOD IS A SPIRIT

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:20-22.

About the time of my graduation from Med school came news from some of our brethren that have left school. “The music is good, the place is cozy, a lot of young people attend, some celebrities could be seated next to you. The sound is superb, the preaching gets you out of your seat and shouting, it’s a cool place to be” That was a report from the field, a new congregation in town. So everyone who went to town checked it out, it was better than described. Just one caveat, a place to belong, not a place to be saved & made alive to God.

Salvation is the prerequisite to true worship; only those who are alive in spirit connect to the father of Spirits. In Adam all died, without a salvation encounter, life cannot count in God. Without a definite salvation experience, you’re a number, not a member. When were you saved? Or just attending church. Questions begging for answers

“Ye worship ye know not what:we know what we worship:for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit:and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”John 4:22-24.

Without salvation, we are dead in sins and music becomes noise. Every son of Adam is spiritually dead, disconnected from the life and nature of God. Resurrection connects the spiritually dead and physically alive to the father of Spirits. It’s a tragedy to be in church but not in touch, after a while it becomes the norm and the thought that everyone is the same. Worshipping God is not spiritual, it’s for living human spirits. God is a Spirit, worshipped by men who have his spirit; not men on suits. It takes more than good suits, sound, music, dance, comedy, panache to worship.

Resurrection power give life to dead human spirits to be in touch with God, not just in church. Only those that are raised from the dead worship God in spirit and truth.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10.

Prayer: Dear father of Spirits, I thank you for the resurrection power in Christ Jesus. I am raised from death in Adam to life in Christ. Now can I worship in spirit and truth. Thank you again and again in Jesus name.

CROSSING THE IDOLS

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1 Peter 1:18-19.

As a young boy growing up in the village, I witnessed the worship of idols. We know what the other person worshipped, it’s interesting to list their object of worship. A few scrap metals left to rust under a shade built by the worshiper, a mound of earth built like a mini anthill or the shape of a man or woman, snakes or……. These are some symbols and monuments that are readily visible. Their devotion and worship is shown by the fresh layer of blood usually from a chicken splashed on this sculpture. We were warned of going to the houses of such persons or eating anything there.

This was the idea of idolatry that many are accustomed to. The worship of the things like stone, iron, bottles, cloth created by man instead of the creator of all things.

“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what:we know what we worship:for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” John 4:21-23.

Many still serve idols against popular opinion; there are more idols today than was previously thought. It’s the worship of persons, things, places and patterns without apparent benefit. The things now range from toys, money, sports, pets, persons or even Apps; there is much to chose from. Many derive satisfaction, fellowship, counsel & spend time, fortune on these. money on It’s their ambition, desire, what to live for and die for. Now you understand that they worship, they know not what.

Salvation is the first connection to true worship of God. Man desires to worship something or someone, God seeks worship. The cross of Christ is the connection between man’s desire and God’s will. it’s time to cross the idols.

“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” 2 Corinthians 5:14-15.

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for making a way for us to worship you in spirit and truth. Thank you for crossing the idols to serve God. I am connected to life in Jesus name.

TICKET TO TRUE WORSHIP.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what:we know what we worship:for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him. John 4:21-23.

Worship is personal, God relates with us as individuals not groups. Even in a congregational service, we worship differently, as we connect personally. Someone has alluded to this like the cell phone, only those with a active sim card is allowed to connect to a service provider and access the network. Without a system identification module,a phone is as good as useless. God seeks to be worshipped in spirit and in truth by those who are connected to him.

Salvation is the prerequisite for true spiritual worship. By redemption, the spirit of man comes alive and becomes connected to God. Until this connection, worship cannot begin.

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:5-7.

We are all familiar with our birthday and natural milestones in life. Being born again is the switch from natural living to supernatural lifestyle. It is the birth of a new heart and spirit that is alive and yielded to God. Salvation is the conversion of flesh to spirit or mortal to spiritual man. The cross of Christ blots out sin and gives new life by redemption power.

It is the grand entrance into the kingdom of God and connection of a new human spirit to the holy spirit. Worship becomes possible from this time onward; saved to worship God in spirit & truth. Without spiritual connection of salvation, worship connection is impossible. The tragedy of going to church and not being in touch is terminated. New birth therefore is the ticket to true worship in Christ.

Prayer: Dear father of Spirits, you desire worshippers in spirit and truth. And has made a way by the death and resurrection of Christ. Thank you for being counted as a true worshipper by salvation in Jesus name.

MONUMENTS AND SYMBOLS

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, to the unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Acts 17:23-24.

Every casual traveller through a city or town is aware of its sights & sounds. City centres are favourite spots to see a monument or a sculpture. These sculptures maybe of great men, conquerors or portraying the ideology of the city. Some of these sculptures maybe part of the devotions, beliefs or religious worship of the people. When such monuments are part of devotions or worship it becomes more symbolic. What is the monument of Christ? What’s the high point of true worship? The unknown God has monuments, sculptures &symbols of men, animals or created things instead of the creator.

It is the worship of God without salvation, venerating the dead or buried for the living.

“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what:we know what we worship:for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”John 4:21-23.

Worship of the unknown God ends at the grave, monument or symbol of the dead. True worship begins with salvation or connection to the living God. The unknown God is hereby revealed by resurrection of the dead. The accurate information about life, death, grave, hell and heaven is known. The firstborn from the dead is the way, the truth and life. Salvation gives access to true worship; we know what we worship! Christ did not come to give religion, he came to grant resurrection &life.

The resurrection is the monument and symbol of Christ and his believers. Everyone that believes in him that died and rose from the dead is saved. It’s your turn to take the first step to true worship; salvation. Its simply accepting, believing and confessing him that died and rose again.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”Romans 10:9-10.

Prayer: Father you’re the true and living God revealed by your son Jesus Christ by his resurrection and life. Let every worshipper of the unknown God come to the light of salvation in Jesus name.

FAITH CONNECTION

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. 2 Corinthians 4:13-14.

Resurrection began with Christ and has continued since then till today. Resurrection is not past, it has began and continues. Jesus is first, you are the next in line to be raised. Resurrection is by faith, the spirit of faith releases the power of resurrection into your life. Faith comes by hearing of the resurrection of Jesus as it is written and believing in him that raised Jesus; the spirit of faith releases your personal resurrection experience.

While its wonderful to celebrate the resurrection of Christ as the first, it’s actually your resurrection that calls for celebration. Everyone and everything that hear, believe and speak of him that raised Christ from the dead is raised also. Salvation is the first experience of the power of resurrection, it is the first experience but not the only access to being raised. Everyday is an opportunity to have a resurrection experience.

Today is someone’s day to be raised! It’s amazing to know that it’s very simple as A, B C. It begins with admission or acceptance that Jesus is lord of the dead and living; the resurrection and life. Then believe in your heart that he died and that God raised him from the dead. Finally confessing him or speaking what believed with your mouth. That is the simple procedure that connects you to the resurrection power for salvation, healing, deliverance, breakthrough and miracles. Jesus was raised instantaneously, not gradually, so also you shall be raised.

The spirit of faith is at work for sudden turnaround in your life. The resurrection power changes things suddenly, instantly.

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”Ephesians 2:4-6.

Prayer: My dear father, thank you for making me a partaker of the resurrection. I believe in the resurrection of Christ and speak for salvation. The power of resurrection is continually released for instant results in my life in Jesus name.

CHURCH EMBLEM

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us- ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Ephesians 1:19-23.

The church is the custodian and administrator of the power of resurrection on the earth. It’s amazing to know that the power of life and death is operated by the church. This statement may come as a surprise because some persons have thought that the church has diminished in power today. Some may ask for clarifications, is that for a denomination or generally? A look around prove true the saying that the church is marching on and the gates of hell shall not prevail and that the church is one. The church does not march on by political power but by resurrection power. It is therefore an insult to redemption for any denomination or group to seek government help in solving life problems instead of being the solution.

The church therefore is a heavenly organization with operations directed from the same, having effect and impact on the earth. Every saved soul is translated from earthly to heavenly places by this power.

“But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Hebrews 12:22-24.

When the power of resurrection is not freely employed to bring about turnarounds and change of story in life, chances are that you belong to a cult. If your group relies on government and well meaning individuals to solve life problems in your community, you’re probably a member of an NGO.

The church exists as a change agent and solution provider by the power of resurrection. The church is a dwelling place for souls to be saved and registered in heaven; a redemption clinic. It is an error to expect the church to run social services without its mandate of depopulating hell and death and enlarging heaven. The resurrection power changes things on earth through the body of Christ. The resurrection power is the Church emblem; power pass power!

“But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ:whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.”1 Corinthians 15:13-17.

Prayer: Father God of our lord Jesus Christ, thank you for the mighty power released by the resurrection of Christ and our resurrection. Thank you for making this power emblematic of the church; everyone that comes is touched and in touch in Jesus name.

ONE SHEPHERD & SAVIOUR

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21.

There is one shepherd, his name is Jesus Christ. We are the sheep of his pasture, we are very precious to him. He gave his life for the sheep, and has paid the price for our redemption. He meets the need of the sheep by shedding his blood for him. That is the greatest price for the greatest gift; life everlasting. Jesus is the Lord my shepherd, he gives his life for the sheep. Your pastor is not your shepherd, he is a servant of Christ and of the sheep. The shepherd keeps the sheep, he does not eat the sheep. It is a grand design and deception to mistake your pastor as your shepherd.

Your pastor is an employee of the chief shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is a servant of Jesus Christ who takes personal card of everyone of his sheep. This is a warning to pastors, the sheep is not yours, it’s Christ’s. You’re also one of the sheep of his pasture and the lead-sheep of his flock.

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.”1 Peter 2:24-25

One of the needs of the sheep is health and healing, it is met by the shepherd. The pastor cannot heal the sick, he prays for their healing. Above scripture makes the clear distinction between the shepherd, pastors & sheep. Jesus personally took the sins and stripes of sicknesses for our redemption from sin. The lord is my Shepherd and Saviour, I shall not want of health & healing. The sheep goes astray by following pastors instead of the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls. The Lord is my Shepherd, he is also my saviour, healer and Bishop of my soul. Everything I need is in his hands, I shall not want!

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”Psalms 23:1-3.

Prayer: My dear father, thank you for giving us a Shepherd, saviour, healer and Bishop of our souls in Jesus Christ. Everything we need is supplied by him personally. The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want, in Jesus name.

MEEK & GENTLE.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30.

One of the songs we sang in the choir from the hymn book was this; “Jesus meek and gentle, son of God most high, pitying loving saviour, hear thy children’s cry” I am not sure if many would be comfortable singing the same today. The tune of this song is also reflective of the tone and attitude. So many people still underestimate the impact of a song and it’s lyrics. I knew pride as a vice but today it’s advertised & promoted as a virtue by some others.

Meekness is the nature of sheep. Jesus lived not only like a sheep on earth, but meekness was his covering. He also showed and taught that it’s a vital requirement to be divinely guided. The proud knows the way to go, he does not need instructions even when he discovers that the route is a dead end; arrogance of ignorance.

“The meek will he guide in judgment:and the meek will he teach his way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Psalms 25:9-10, 14.

The meek are shown the way to go, they wait and follow instructions. While one is saying I know not the way, please show me the way. The other says I will find my way somehow. Meekness gives unlimited access to the secrets or deep things of God. The sheep follows the shepherd, they go not before the shepherd. The sheep waits for the shepherd to be led to their appointed places.

When God leads, he goes before the led to show him what lies ahead. Divine secrets are one of the benefit of meekness; they’re always ahead. Meekness destroys the yoke of pride and clears the path to be led. The meek have lowly and teachable spirit that follows instructions and directions. Moses was the meekest, he never lacked divine direction nor clear instructions from God. You cannot miss your way with God being meek and gentle like the sheep.

“(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold:wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” Numbers 12:3,7-8.

Prayer: Father I am delighted to know that meekness gives access greatness. Those that hear from you see ahead to become the head. Just like Moses and Jesus, I subscribe to meekness to have access to divine secrets in Jesus name. Meekness is the portion of sheep not goats.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalms 23:1-3.

Sheepish is a word that mean different things to different people. Commonly thought as being timid, simple, uncomplicated personality like the sheep. It can also mean meek, gullible, manipulatable or any other adjective of choice. The sheep theory does not fit the narrative of many and they shy away from being associated with the flock. Unfortunately that’s who we are in Christ, the sheep of his pasture. It’s also important that the sheep is fed with green pastures, not dry grasses. The sheep grows best when they eat fresh grasses not dried hay.

Philosophy and the wisdom of men are dried hay while the word of God is green pastures. It is not the lack of the wisdom of the world that destroys the sheep but for want of the wisdom of God.

“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”Jeremiah 3:15.

The shepherd appoints pastors to feed the sheep with green grasses not dry hay. The knowledge and understanding of God are given as it distils with fresh insight from heaven. The pastors are in touch with Jesus while the sheep receive from the pastors. It is an insult to redemption for a pastor to preach philosophy or the wisdom of men but the word from God.

The pastors keep the sheep in touch with the shepherd not with the world. The Lord Jesus Christ is my shepherd, it is the knowledge of him that make the difference in my life. He is my connection to every good thing; the knowledge and understanding of him is my greatest need, I shall not want. The word of God is the green pastures of knowledge and understanding.

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”Colossians 2:6-8.

Prayer: My father and God, you have given me a shepherd to meet my need for guidance. You also appoint pastors to feed me with knowledge and understanding of your word. Grace Lord receive I to grow in the knowledge and understanding of Christ today in Jesus name.
