I am the door:by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:9-10
The story of redemption is fully expressed in the verses above. The thief has the stealing, killing and destruction ministry, while the saviour is the author and giver of abundant life. Abundant life has been defined as living to the fullest both in quantity and quality.
It’s another kind of life, the life of God which is eternal or everlasting.
The thief has access to natural life, no wonder we live in a dying world. It’s atonishing when the thief is confused to the saviour, temporal for eternal and terrestrial for celestial.
The best of what the thief has to offer is not up to zero in content of abundant lifestyle.
“Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the Lord. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?”Jeremiah 2:12-14.
There is this mad rush to worldliness, the thief is no longer vilified. Principles of worldliness are now the shortcut, instead of Godliness. The thief is no doubt the devil, but his ways are being tried due to deception. What is stolen lacks capacity to add value, the thief always has his way.
Salvation is not an option it’s the way of escape from the thief of life. Its either you’re with the thief or you’re with the saviour; there’s no neutral position. Jesus did not come to save the neutral, he came to save the world, all of it! All you need to have all your needs met is in Christ; he is the author and fountain of abundant life, living waters.
Abundant life is not in him he is the life, the door, the way; there’s no other way. A quick check, are you with the thief or in the saviour? Your soul is under contention by a thief and a saviour.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17.
Thank you my father for the gift of a saviour, now know I the thief and his modes operandi. Stealing, killing and destruction ends by connection to the saviour. This is my heritage through Christ my lord.
