For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17.
Living has some certain uncertainties, death is feared as the thief of life. Death is the greatest threat to life, “man was born to die” says a wise man.
Too many cemeteries and tombstone around us give credence to this fact. Death reigned, it had a celebrity status, a shadow on every life. Death remained an end until Christ opened the door.
The resurrection of Christ terminated the cycle of sin, death, hell and the grave and gave us new life.
Just like death reigned, new life is on the throne.
We saw Jesus die, he was hanging on the cross but it was my life that was life that crossed by his death.
The cross of Jesus is my death, his grave my burial place his resurrection my ticket to a brand new life.
“I am crucified with Christ:nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God:for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”Galatians 2:20-21.
You don’t have to die physically to have the new life in Christ. Dying with Christ give access to newness of life. It personal, it’s my crucifixion, my death and my resurrection. The celebration of the resurrection of Christ begins with my resurrection with him and the new life it gives.
The words of this song is apt and germane:
“See my Jesus on the cross, the people crying, Looking on a man would think, oh what a tragedy.
What the world could not see when they nailed him to the tree
He broke the chains of sin and set me free..
Love grew, where the blood fell, flowers of hope spring up for men and misery
Sin died, where the blood fell, I am so glad his precious blood covers me…”
From sin, death and the grave; a brand new life emerges.
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”John 11:25-26.
Dear father God, thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to be my resurrection and life. A brand new life is mine from dirty, filthiness and debt in Jesus name.
