The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. Matthew 4:16.
In darkness, everything and everyone is at a stand still or at best stranded. The eyes have limited use in darkness; vision and direction are impaired. What was done in the dark is always a source of shame in the light.
Intelligence, expertise and learning are traded in darkness for survival. Darkness constrains imagination and obscures creativity.
Why should anyone talk about the future when unsure of surviving the present? There is no writing or reading in darkness; everything and everyone waits for the end. How should I think on the prophetic when the end is ever present?
One of the hard punishment prescribed for prisoners is to put them in seclusion and in darkness. The longer they stay in the dark, everything about them changes. The light hurts the eyes when they are released from such circumstances. This is the pattern and lifestyle of many who are in darkness. The light of life terminates darkness both temporal and eternal.
“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:3-5.
Darkness has no defense from the light. Light terminates darkness. Light is the creative power of God, light is the beginning of life. In darkness everything waits, wastes, decays and dies, it is the path of death.
Light is the always the first expression of the presence of God. Darkness has no choice but to flee in the presence of light. Not only does darkness flee but with all it’s works and effect on life. Whatsoever has been damaged in darkness is repaired in the light. Things that are destroyed are created, what is lost is replaced.
The light of God therefore is the instrument of restoration and recreation.Darkness has limited time lines, light has eternal effect and influence.
It’s your turn to leave darkness behind, let there be light.
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6.
Prayer: Great father of lights, thank You for commanding light out of darkness. Whatever was damaged in darkness is repaired in the light and that destroyed is recreated. Thank you for giving us your light to shine in life in Jesus name.
