The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. Psalms 16:5-6.
It runs in the family….. , this is one phrase that is commonly heard or said by some group of persons. To the proud and successful, it comes out even better; she or he is just like his father or mother. Brilliant, first in his class with a perfect GPA of 5, that’s impressive. When sickness or misfortune comes, it’s expressed in low voices and solemn somber tones; his father also had a stroke and even died from it.
What virtues, trait or inheritance runs in your family? This is a question that many do not desire to be asked, neither seeking answers. Some have lived all their lives trying to be different from their peers. I have a goodly heritage in Christ! New birth is a change of family line and heritage and making God your portion. Beings born again terminates familial and generational family ties.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”John 1:12-13.
Being born again is a disconnection from every wicked and evil family ties to a goodly or godly heritage. God becomes your father and the sevenfold riches of redemption becomes your portion. The power that make sons also connect to a goodly heritage. What is inherited by family ties is terminated by godly ties. If you’re still enduring ailments or curses or figments of wickedness recurrent and persistent in your family line you need to be born again.
The new birth is jealously guarded by God to maintain his lot in Christ. What was given in Adam was lost, may your portion in Christ not be lost. I have a goodly heritage the lines have fallen to me in pleasant places.
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”Colossians 2:14-15.
Prayer: Father, I thank you for the goodly heritage that is mine in Christ. Thank you for disconnecting me from what runs in my natural family to a godly inheritance in Jesus name.
