He delighteth not in the strength of the horse:he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem;praise thy God, O Zion. Psalms 147:10-12.
Help is a necessity, the source is the challenge. God has never needed help from man, he is our helper. God gives help to all, never needing the help of any. Whenever alternatives to God is in view, God reacts. The legs of man represents self help while the strength of the horse is added help, speed and agility. These are the alternatives that many depend on for help. We either trust on ourselves or on an extra hand for help. The other end is those that believe that God will do it. They do nothing, they expect God to do everything. Any opinion that makes God solely responsible for the help of man is irresponsible. There is need for a balanced approach or meeting point of these extreme positions. God is the eternal helper of man, his word strengthens us to do great things.
“Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:”Isaiah 45:1-2.
The help of God strengthens your hand to do what is impossible with man and horse put together. The anointing is God’s help for extraordinary accomplishment. While the anointing is from God, the hand that works is yours. The anointing gives man the responsibility to do the unusual. Cyrus is anointed, nation subdued, kings challenged & changed. Restrictions destroyed, breakthroughs the norm. Help is partnership with God, to do the impossible. The strength of a horse is nothing when the anointing of God is active. Another Cyrus is born, by the spirit of God; that is the help of his hand. The holy spirit is responsible help, you are empowered for exploits.
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”Acts 1:8.
