And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Acts 3:2-5
Begging is an industry in some locations. Swarms of person obtain their livelihood from it.If you are to have a census of beggars in some states, it will be more than the working population. The temple was a choice place then, even now.
A man born lame, carried about by another begging at the temple gate. His productivity determines his upkeep and wellbeing. His situation was an opportunity to generate some income. Asking help of worshippers, but not from the God that dwells in the temple. This is another situation of one asking for the wrong things.
A beautiful gate, a temple entrance & restricted access by status. Peter and John were no regular passersby, the helper is within them. They gave help he never asked for; he got more for the bargain.
He needed what money cannot buy; help that is not for sale.
“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up:and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.” Acts 3:6-8
The helper within offers a beautiful life, a look and a call is all it takes. Silver and gold last for a while but strength and vitality is by his help. Those that look on the lord obtain the help they deserve. The help of God beautifies the life of men. Jesus is the helper, his name is the password to heavenly helps. From being by the gate excluded, he made inroad into the temple.
Your breakthrough is not by begging but by the help of God. Your ankles receive strength, overcome stagnation to a beautiful life. Help turn beggars to worshippers; make progress, break boundaries.
It’s your turn for a turnaround in the name of Jesus. Obtain help that money cannot buy.
That is the help deserved for those that look up on the helper within.
“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”Psalms 34:5-6.
