But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish:so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. Jonah 1:3.
Every father speaks to his children, clearly and distinctly.
Hearing from God should not be new or unheard of, it should be a delight. Sons have access to the voice of God. Adam heard from God clearly and distinctly, his presence was real to him. The fall was a disconnect from his presence and voice. Redemption is a return to the voice and the presence of God.
But some others are on the run from God.
Hearing but not heeding, looking without seeing; that is The Jonah in us. Chased of God, running from God.
For every word of God to you signifies that you are being chased by God. Your response to his word determines benefit.
Some are on the run like Jonah or Adam. God never stops chasing us with his word and his presence. Many are surprised that while they ran, God followed them. His presence is not person or place specific. Disobedience is the costly ticket from the voice and presence of God. We may have paid a heavy price for running from God, yet his word renews and recovers us from destruction.
God is not waiting, he is chasing; we shall be found!
We run to destruction, his word saves us from destruction and is for our construction. The good of the land is for the willing and obedient. Your portion in God, another shall not take.
Without Christ, life is on the run.
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:”Isaiah 1:19.
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”2 Corinthians 5:19.
